Program Description

Ecology of Coaching is a 11-hour webinar (5 weeks, 2 hours 15 minutes/week) designed for seasoned leadership and executive coaches. It teaches a proven methodology in Transformational Coaching principles through the Ecology of Coaching system.

This system supports sustained personal and organizational change for clients as the coach employs deep listening, profound inquiry, and exceptional observation skills.

The program qualifies for 9.75 ICF Core Competency and 1.5 Resource Development CCEUs.


Course Objectives

Participants will learn the theory and practice of the Ecology of Coaching™ through demonstration, discussion, case study, and reading. Upon completion of each module, coaches will have tools that can help them be more powerful observers, target conversations that support greater client engagement, and support sustained and meaningful change in their clients.


Overview

This course connects Transformational Coaching principles to the International Coach Federation’s Core Competencies and Code of Ethics:

1: Learning to Learn

  • -Convert problems to opportunities
  • -Examine your own mental models
  • -Apply Double Loop Learning and transformational coaching

2: Personal Mastery, Responsibility and Power

  • -Determine a client's ability to accept responsibility, personal power, and choice

  • -Challenge and/or redirect blame and shame or "victim" behavior

  • -Empower clients to recognize and respond to conditional and unconditional circumstances

3: Skillful Communications

  • -Teach clients to validate or discard assessments based on factual observations

  • -Examine and troubleshoot the Ladder of Inference

  • -Guide the client to expose all sides of a dilemma and witness her options/choices

4: Commitment Management

  • -Engage in commitment conversations with the client

  • -Coach toward client power and commitment/re-commitment management

  • -Conduct coaching sessions based on agreed-upon plans

5: Emotional Management

  • -Leverage emotion as tool for healing and growth

  • -Inspire emotional management and emotional intelligence for yourself and your clients

  • -Ground emotional judgments and feelings powered by choice


Format

This course is delivered via teleconference.

Homework is applicable to everyday working situations, so coaches can put theory into practice immediately.

Class sizes are limited to 20 participants.

Teleconferences are recorded and may be downloaded.

Teaching methods include role-play, demonstrations, case studies, small group work, simulations and limited lectures.


Prerequisites

  • -One to three years of coaching experience
  • -One to three years of leadership experience
  • -Demonstrated business acumen and understanding of organizational leadership challenges
  • -Desire to continuously learn and evolve
